MMS Difference Makers

Posted on 4/3/2023

Throughout the month of March, Mason Middle School 7th graders recognized the person in their life who is their "Difference Maker." During their CREW (homeroom), the students considered who made a difference in their lives, and wrote letters to their person. The March Difference-Maker moments lift up those stories and culminate with a "friendship-bracelet" style sticker that was funded by a grant from the Mason Schools Foundation. There is a powerful wayfinding moment in recognizing that ALL of us have difference makers in our lives. Students are empowered by reflecting on those who have built into them along the way, and by learning that they have the power to BE a difference maker in others’ lives. These Comets are owning the moment, building and acknowledging meaningful relationships, and exploring, as well as, sharing how the chapters in our stories, up to this moment, came to be. Finally, they are learning how to use that power to shape the lives around them in their community.
