Deena Little

The Mason Schools Foundation proudly congratulates Deena Little, a 2020 recipient of the Campbell’s Family Founders Award, The Foundations most prestigious honor.

Mrs. Little was nominated as someone who exemplifies the values of the Mason Schools Foundation and who continually goes above and beyond to support Mason City Schools promoting academic, artistic and/or athletic excellence.

For over two decades Mrs Little has dedicated herself to Mason City Schools, both in and out of the classroom. She started her career with Mason 21 years ago as a fourth grade teacher and went on to become a team leader. Deena is currently a gifted teacher at Mason Intermediate Elementary School where she works hard to challenge her students daily and to play to areas of their interest.

Mrs. Little‘s love for Mason City Schools continued even when taking a break from teaching to raise her three children with husband Darin. She continually went above and beyond in supporting the schools, not only as a teacher, but also as a parent and volunteer over the years. Just last year Deena dedicated months of her personal time as a member of the Mason for Kids Team, rallying volunteers and making countless phone calls ensuring that the community was educated on Issue 12 and understood the importance of voting YES for the Mason Schools Levy.

Mrs Little is highly involved outside of the school as well. She volunteers at her Church and for numerous community organizations such as Matthew 25 Ministries, MOPS, Hands Against Hunger and was a Girls on the Run Leader. Before returning to teach at Mason, Deena worked part time for the University of Cincinnati supporting student teachers including many in the Mason school district.

Being a life long Mason resident, many have witnessed firsthand why Mrs Little is an example of what a great community member and Mason staff member should be. And that is why the Mason Schools Foundation would like to recognize her for this award.
