The William Mason High School Distinguished Alum / Young Alum Awards are created to honor and recognized MHS alums who excel in their profession and or service to the community. Nominations are open now via the 2025 Alum Nomination Form.

The Distinguished Alum recipient must have graduated from William Mason High School and distinguish themselves through achievement, service and contributions to society. Distinguished Alum nominees must have graduated 20 years ago and be over 40 years of age.

The Young Alum Award recognizes outstanding individuals who graduated at least 5 years ago from Mason and are under 40 years of age making an impact in their career, society and /or serving their community.
The nominees should have made a unique contribution in business, arts/humanities, community service, education or public service. This recognition is a celebration of what this individual has accomplished over a period of time. The award will honor and celebrate how alum achievements build on the skills learned at Mason and are now reflected in the Portrait of a Comet including integrity, adaptability, empathy, communication and critical thinking.

Nominees will be reviewed by a panel of MHS Alumni, Mason City School Administrators, MHS Students, MSF Board and convened by the Mason Schools Foundation. Distinguished Alums will be announced and recognized in the spring of 2025 and invited as guests to the 2025 MSF Gala. Distinguished Alums will be honored with a plaque on the MSF monument on the school campus near the Arena and South Entrance to the football stadium.
